I honestly was not surprise when the Government announced the teaching of the Maths and Science subjects in English would be scrapped and shall be reverted to Bahasa Melayu beginning 2012.
I had noticed how my children struggled in both subjects. I had to assist them with their homework and to the extent of enrolling them in private English classes just so that they can do well in both subjects. One of the most glaring failure if you asked me are from the teachers. Personally, I blamed them as the main cause for the failure of this policy. How do you expect students to improve and do well if the teachers are conducting their classes in 'bahasa rojak'?
Far from being welcomed when first introduced, the policy had from the beginning been meeting stiff resistance from almost every quarters who argued that it would undermine the significance and status of the Bahasa Melayu as our National language. Well, they finally won. They got what they wanted and hopefully it will beneficial to the Nation as a whole.
