StudentsTaking Tution Classes Because They Had To.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said parents were sending their children for private tuition classes on their own initiative and not because the children were not getting adequate guidance from the teachers.

Before I send my two boys to private tuition classes, they were performing below par in several subjects. My fervent hope was that they would perform well in their UPSR and PMR exams respectively this year and which parent doesn't.

While I understand the limitation teachers are facing in dealing with their students day-in and day-out and it would also be unfair to demand my kids to be given special attention than the rest, I had own my limits too in aiding them with their studies.

So the final solution was to send them to private tuition classes. These classes are held normally in the evening and this had strained me greatly on both time and financially. However, the dream to see my kids do well in their studies made me ignore all that.

And somehow when both of them started to show better results in their respective subjects after attending these tuition classes, I was of course very much elated and had this perception that they did not get the adequate help or guidance from their own school teachers after all.

Why? That is for the Education Ministry to find out. There could be host of other reasons or factors. Overcrowding could be one of them. A class with total number of students exceeding a recommended limit would have resulted in teachers unable to attend to each of his/her student's needs.

So my dear Sir, I cannot agree with you there.
