A Sad Day.

Image from - ckchy.com

Had quite a sad experience last Sunday when I had to attend the funeral of the wife of a relative who passed away that morning due to leukemia.

She was really still quite young and got married just over a year ago. I was involved with the 'rombongan merisik' or the engagement ceremony, then the wedding and finally the "most not looked forward to but had to" rituals of sending the deceased to her final resting place.

The saddest part is that while we were all in somber mood that day and went about doing our chores, their only baby child were happily playing oblivious to the fact that he is already an orphan. He will grow up without knowing the love of a mother can give or if his father do remarry (which I believe he will), will his step mother be as loving as his mother was?

This whole episode had me thinking that it is not a bad idea that any about to be married couples should go for a health screening before tying the knots. Not only for HIV, diabetes or thalassemia detection but any life threatening diseases as well.

I have not heard affected couples are stopped from getting married yet but at the very least they should not have a child. Any responsible person would not do it.

However, knowing our society which majority still believe in fate, such advice may only fall on deaf ears. They would only tell you that it is fated and written and could not be altered.

How sad ...

Aussie Government Acts Against Spammers.

MELBOURNE, Oct 24 (Bernama)-- Two companies and three individuals have been hit with penalties totalling A$15.75 million (RM49.14 million) for contravening the Spam Act, the first court action taken against unsolicited SMS messages.

The fines were handed down in the Federal Court in Brisbane on Friday.

I hope the relevant authorities here will take similar punitive action to curb these invasive spammers. I kept getting annoying SMSes through my cellphone on almost daily basis. Be they "mau lihat awek cun", " nasihat cinta", "nombor bertuah" and many more.

StudentsTaking Tution Classes Because They Had To.

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 21 (Bernama) -- Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said parents were sending their children for private tuition classes on their own initiative and not because the children were not getting adequate guidance from the teachers.

Before I send my two boys to private tuition classes, they were performing below par in several subjects. My fervent hope was that they would perform well in their UPSR and PMR exams respectively this year and which parent doesn't.

While I understand the limitation teachers are facing in dealing with their students day-in and day-out and it would also be unfair to demand my kids to be given special attention than the rest, I had own my limits too in aiding them with their studies.

So the final solution was to send them to private tuition classes. These classes are held normally in the evening and this had strained me greatly on both time and financially. However, the dream to see my kids do well in their studies made me ignore all that.

And somehow when both of them started to show better results in their respective subjects after attending these tuition classes, I was of course very much elated and had this perception that they did not get the adequate help or guidance from their own school teachers after all.

Why? That is for the Education Ministry to find out. There could be host of other reasons or factors. Overcrowding could be one of them. A class with total number of students exceeding a recommended limit would have resulted in teachers unable to attend to each of his/her student's needs.

So my dear Sir, I cannot agree with you there.

Zon Selesa.

Snippet.

In case you haven't notice, I have removed the e-referrer widget from this site. I have not been following up with it's content lately until I did a checking just now and to my horror, it was infested with links to porn sites. I realized it is not the e-referrer.com' s fault but off it goes and I will not be using that widget for sometimes to come.

Komen Sikit.

I wouldn't say it's a good idea or not. If a couple is already bent on divorce, would a free second honeymoon cum with counseling stop them from doing so? - I wonder.

Anyway, still, it's a good intention to stop couples from separating. Whether it's workable or not is another question.

Gays In Millitary.

I hope our PM will never have to make this kind of announcement to win votes although honestly I have nothing against gays. One of my favourite singer happens to be George Michael.

Anyway, they may have well already infiltrated the rank and file of our Armed Forces. The only way to be sure is for the MPs to make their rounds on weekends at the known local Gays clubs -
Yes, they do have them here in our Country. :)

Obama vows to end restrictions on gays in military

WASHINGTON, Oct 11 – President Barack Obama, speaking on the eve of a major gay-rights march, told gay supporters on Saturday he would fight for their causes ...

The Letter.

Tomorrow, I will hand in my necessary but unpleasant letter to my Boss in order for me to move on to the next and God willing, many more chapters to come in my life.

It's been a while since I last hand in a similar letter but then one has to do it when the need arises. One also had to do it when the working environment become so unbearable and had managed to turn you into a sad and brooding man.

How does one knows that he or she had become this "sad and brooding person", someone may ask. Ah, my answer is quite simple really. One has only to look at oneself in the mirror early in the morning before leaving the house. If the image that reflects back is not one like to see, it is not the mirror that had contorted somewhat. It is only one's inner-self that portrays itself so honestly early in the morning before we, the ever chameleon-like, will hides all that unhappiness deep inside which slowly but surely continue rotting inside.

Sad isn't it? So stop punishing oneself and do something if one is not happy about something. One deserves to be happy and it is one God's given right.

Footnote: Wish me good luck friends. Found an opening and now it is only the matter of how to get there.

A Gloomy and Wet Day.

It has been raining since late last night and up until now at 12.35 pm, it's still raining but less windy.

Had trouble sending the kids to school today because of the jam and the weather. Had more trouble later when trying to reach my place of work because along the way there were a few spot which was flooded and impassable to small vehicles. Fortunately yours truly went through the trouble to study the local geographic and got to know a few alternatives routes and still manage to reach Ranau before noon time.

Hopefully there will be no landslides on the return trip later today .
