Raya Prayer.

Performed my Aidil Adha prayer at the Masjid Bandaraya in Likas today. Reached there quite early as I wanted to avoid the big rush that are normally seen on special day such as today where most the mosques or suraus will be packed full.

Everything went on smoothly right from the start until the finish but what caught my attention was that majority of the attendees today were 'outsiders' ( aka Philipinos, Indonesians and some Pakistanis).

Maybe the locals had chosen other mosques to perform their prayers this year. Anyway, it does feel really strange to hear more foreign language being spoken this year than the Malay language as I slowly made my way through the crowd towards my car.

For Lighter Afternoon Mood.

The above is a copy of an e-mail sent to me by a friend. It tells you about the experience of a young boy went through during a New Year Eve party written heavily in Sabah dialect.

Thought it was funny and had posted it here just for fun and see how many of our counterparts from Semenanjung can make sense the content of this short essay. Or maybe they will be just as confused as the teacher. ;)

Sabah Government Trying Hard To Change Youth Mindset.

KOTA KINABALU, Nov 17 (Bernama) -- The Sabah government is "trying hard" to change the mindset and attitude of local youths so that they will not shy away from jobs in sectors now monopolised by foreign workers, the state assembly was told Tuesday.

Resource Development and Information Technology Minister Datuk Dr Yee MohChai said this was a challenge the state government had to overcome because many youths did not want to work in sectors such as construction and plantation.

It is sad to see that not only the construction or the plantation sectors that are relying heavily on these foreign workers, but in other sectors too. Most of the service or food stall operators in the State are hiring foreigners too. "They are cheaper and more reliable", is their reason for hiring these workers.

These foreigners had not only made their presence prominent in these sectors but into small-holding businesses too. One such good example is for one only had to pay a visit to the Kg. Air or Sinsuran night markets. How many among the traders there that are actually bona-fide local Sabahans is anyone guess.

To this end I did not think the Government had really tried that hard enough. To change or condition the mindset of a specific targeted group had to be executed and carried out meticulously at a much younger age. Not when they had already advanced into their youths which had proven to be difficult or simply impossible.

JAIS : No Exemption. All must have prior permission.

SHAH ALAM, Nov 12 (Bernama) All ulama and mufti must obtain the permission of the Selangor Islamic Religious Department (Jais) before they can give religious talks or sermons in the state.

Okay, good and fine. Enough already. Granted the good Dr. Asri might have overlooked this requirement but people get your point. No need to keep on bragging about it. Time to move on and stop acting like a sore loser.

Don't You Just Hate It.

Ever since they created this 'clip' (calling line identification presentation) technology on every hand phones, people were given a choice to choose whether to answer or not, calls from unknown caller or from the very persons they are avoiding.

Initially, it only shows you the number of the caller. Then at breathtaking speed, comes the upgrade when the name of the caller were also shown. Now, they can even show you the picture of the caller on certain type and model of hand phone.

I still remember when that technology was first introduced back then every one was going like oohhh and ahhhh.(Yours truly not exempted.) However, everything comes with its plus and minus package. This clip technology included.

The past few days I were on the receiving end to the minus side of this technology when people seems to be avoiding and refused to answer my calls. Just when you need urgent confirmation on certain matters, all that you get is the ringing tone and finally the really annoying answering service. Needless to say that I was quite infuriated by all this kind. I just really hate it when people purposely refuse to answer my phone calls. Don't you?

Anyway, it's quite fortunate that they have also created the sms technology and when I can't get them to answer, I sms them instead. Anyway you want it, you still get your message across, whether they choose to reply or not is another matter. There is no escape.

Parents Showing Bad Examples To Their Children.

How can we hope to see our children grow up to be matured, responsible and civilized individuals when we are exposing and conditioning them to the negative and dark sides of us on daily basis.

One need only to observe the careless and undisciplined behavior some parents were exhibiting to their kids when sending them to schools every morning. Notice how they jumped queue, overtaking other vehicles recklessly and demonstrating totally inconsiderate behavior while on the road right in front of their children.

In the end one can only imagine what kind of road users their kids will end up to be in their adulthood.

On Dr. Asri's Arrest.

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 2 (Bernama) -- Datuk Seri Najib Razak today questioned the motive for the arrest of former Perlis Mufti Dr Mohd Asri Zainul Abidin by the Selangor Islamic Religious Affairs Department (Jais) late last nignt, suspected of teaching religion without the authority to do so.

The arrest of the former Mufti must be an attempt of certain quarters to harass or silence him as he been quite vocal and direct in his comments specifically on religious issues concerning Islam. The action by JAIS if not satisfactorily explained, will caused them to loose credibility. Their action is also akin to poking a "tebuan" nest. Just be on the look out for the fall out. Will be quite an interesting spectacle to watch.

He Is A Diplomat .

Strange To Relate (1).

NEW DELHI, Nov 1 (Bernama) -- It is a different kind of fetish all together for 32-year-old Nazim Baig of Lucknow, who munches about 20kg of vegetables daily, plucked straight from the fields, just to satisfy his appetite.

But his neighbours are not a happy lot, because Nazim steals the vegetables from their farms every night and often consumes them during dusk.
