HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010.

New Year
Comments from pYzam.com

IT'S ONLY A MATTER OF 12 HOURS FROM NOW (1200 HRS/NOON) AND 2009 WILL BE GONE AND WE WILL BE USHERING IN THE NEW YEAR 2010.

THIS YEAR AND AS WAS LAST YEAR, NO MORE OF THOSE NEW YEAR EVE BEACH PARTIES FOR ME. THE BEACHES AROUND KOTA KINABALU ARE GETTING TOO CROWDED NOW AND ANYWAY THE JAM IS TOO MUCH.

I STILL HAD FOND MEMORIES OF THOSE YEARS THOUGH, WHEN WE ALL SCRAMBLED LIKE MAD TO THE SEA AS SOON AS THE CLOCK STRIKES MIDNIGHT AND DEPENDING ON YOUR MOOD ON THAT PARTICULAR NIGHT, YOU WILL THROW YOUR UNDERWEAR WHICH YOU WILL SOON REGRET. :P

YEP, ANOTHER YEAR HAD GONE BY AND SO FAST TOO. HOW WISE DID WE SPEND OUR TIME THIS YEAR AND HOW MANY OF THE THINGS WE HAD SET OUT TO DO THAT HAD YET TO BE ACCOMPLISHED? A LOT I PRESUMED.

HOWEVER, I WOULD LIKE TO BELIEVE THAT THE THINGS MATTERED TO US MOST HAD ALL AND BEEN SUCCESSFULLY ACCOMPLISHED. STILL, THERE WILL BE SOME OF THOSE THAT WE HAD NOT BEEN TOO SUCCESSFUL WITH. NO MATTER, WE CAN ALWAYS TRY AGAIN.

ANYWAY, I WOULD LIKE TO WISH EVERYONE AND TO THE READERS AND VISITORS TO THIS BLOG OF MINE A HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010. MAY THE NEW YEAR BE A GOOD AND PROSPEROUS ONE.

MANY THANKS TO MIKE LING (WE'LL HAVE THAT TEA BREAK SOME DAY, THAT'S A PROMISE), AMDE SIDEK, HASBULLAH PIT, JED YOONG, KIAMBANG, MRSM Kalae Chepo 66/73, KUJIE, PENARIK BECA, KERABU BERSUARA AND OTHERS WHO HAD COMMENTED ON THIS BLOGS OR LINKS WITH THIS BLOG, THANKS AGAIN.

GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND ONCE AGAIN HAPPY NEW YEAR 2010

Researchers Crack GSM Cell Phone Security

Hackers could soon be listening to your cellphone call. That's the word from the Chaos Communication Conference in Berlin, an annual get-together for hackers.

Cryptographers at the conference say they've been able to crack a code that, on a normal day, prevents the interception of mobile phone calls by forcing those phones to consistently change frequencies across a list of about eighty channels.

Ahh.. Malaysian political scene. Never fail to amuse me. Please also read this article here. Me hopeful for the much anticipated "fireworks display" soon. The coming Christmas celebration without the availability of sugar would not be so bad after all.

PM Tidak Terkejut.

KUALA LUMPUR 15 Dis.

Ahh.. Loan sharks or ceti haram or just Ah Long as they are more commonly known. RM49 mil? Only the tip of the iceberg if you asked me. I mean, just go to any of the ATM machines in town areas during early of the month and you will certain individuals making withdrawal upon withdrawal while putting the cash inside assigned envelopes. Tell me what these people are doing and who they belong to. Mind you that this is in Kota Kinabalu alone. What about the other districts or town all over the country?

SESB TO BUCK UP.

Hmmphh! We shall see. Only last week alone the Likas/Kota Kinabalu areas had experienced about 5 hours of power interruption. That would sum up to a total of 300 minutes. Just wondering here whether SESB can really meet this challenge.

The irony of this posting - should have been yesterday but in the midst of typing it down, there was a power breakdown. Only posted it today.

Honestly, do we really need to go this far to promote Malaysia? Can we really afford to this in the long run? Wouldn't it be much better to channel the available fund for other useful projects for the rakyat.

KJ

Maybe we should just give him a chance to prove himself. After all, BN is really in a dire need to exude some freshness and reinvent itself to remain relevant and maybe just maybe, would still be the Government of the day after the next GE.

Just because he was born to be the person he is and to have all that privileges to rise up into prominence so fast at quite a young age, but with that air of "cockiness" and impatience about him that we have to prejudge him negatively?

Personally, I think it was because of that certain people and also his political adversaries found him threatening. And there is always the claim that he's dirty but so far he's still out there a free man.

Now I am not a die hard KJ fan but I would still prefer him over Datuk Ahamd Ismail or that pictures stomping opposition leaders.

Read an article about KJ here.

Shameful!

KOTA BAHARU, Dec 5 Malaysian Anti- Corruption Commission (MACC) officers will be stationed at functions held to hand over aid to flood victims in Kelantan, said state National Security Council director Mohd Roslee Mamat.

"We are taking this step to ensure everything is above board and that aid provided reaches only those who are eligible.

Wow! This is something. Bantuan untuk orang susah pun hendak di cekau. Shameful act indeed!

Hopefully it's not only in Kelantan that MACC will be monitoring the distribution of aid to flood victims. All the States affected by the flood should be monitored too or this is just another attempt to discredit the beleaguered Kelantan State Government.

For The Swisscash Victims.

How many of you out there still remember or had been 'bitten' by the notorious Swisscash scam? For those who have lost their hard earned cash after investing in this scam, all is not lost yet so it seem. They might just be able to get their money back.

According to this article here and here, the Security Commission of Malaysia (SC) following a consent judgment, will be giving restitution to eligible victims of the scam. Which means you are only entitled to claim for the principal amount that you have invested, provided of course, you are able to provide sufficient documentary proof. The SC will be appointing an administrator soon to process and manage claims from victims of this scam.

This would also mean for victims that who have lost, or to those in a moment of frustration, tore up all their documents to proof of their investments, will not be eligible to claim. In essence, not everyone would be able to have their money back.

So folks, be careful next time if a too good to be true offer or scheme that might come your way.

Footnote: I wrote this article as some of my pals still in the dark about this. Wonder where they have been to all this while.

Sugar Subsidy To End Soon?

Malaysia may end sugar subsidy to curb sweet tooth.

AFP
02 December 2009

Malaysia may scrap a costly sugar subsidy in a move to promote a healthy lifestyle and discourage its citizens from indulging their sweet tooth, a minister said Wednesday.

Source:asiaonenews

Note : Wonder if the intention behind this move was really to promote healthy living to all Malaysians by way of cutting sugar intake. Either that or the Government is really feeling the pinch and needs to do away with this subsidy which really is large chunk of fund that can be channeled elsewhere for other beneficial uses. Or the Government had other reasons and are not telling us.

Granted that sugar if consumed in large quantity over long period may be detrimental to health but a good self-discipline and restrain may be exercise to keep oneself in the pink side of health. I guessed the regular campaign by the authorities to promote healthy living by consuming less sugar had fallen on deaf ears thus had opted for this drastic measure instead.

Anyway, being not a sugar lover this news doesn't affect me much. It's high time we get ourselves out from being a subsidized society. I imagined there will be more cuts coming out from the woodwork soon.

However, I still dread to contemplate the 'fall-out effects' this move will had on other things and how deep I have to dig in my pocket next time for my regular doses of kopi-o.

Note : Fully support the Government on this. A former chain smoker myself, all that I can say about smoking - it's bad for your health. (Always had this chest pain last time when I was still actively smoking but not anymore.)

This smoking habit also burn large holes in your pockets. Not advisable during this economic crunch time. In short, you're definitely better-off financially and health-wise by not smoking.

Still, for
the ban to be fully effective, serious efforts to eradicate the sales of smuggled cigarettes must taken by the relevant authorities.
